ASUNM Student Special Events (SSE) is the branch of student government (ASUNM) that provides the University of New Mexico with multicultural, diverse events that include concerts, speakers, a spring festival (Fiestas), and community outreach activities. Friday Night Live!
Student Union Building
Join over 2,500 fellow students in the SUB for Friday Night Live! The entire building will be full of great events. This year there will be Casino Games, Photo Booths, Henna Tattoos, Karaoke, Student Organizations, Laser Tag, Lobo Sports Teams, DJ/Dance, and Free Food every half hour! Class Crawl Campus Tour

1st Year Students! Come print out your class schedule and we'll help you find where your classes are on a campus tour. Look for us outside on the Mall just north of the Student Union Building (north of Popejoy Hall) after the Freshman Convocation for a personalized campus tour!Sponsored by the Student Activities Center, Dean of Students Office and Residence Life.

Movie on the Field: Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3

Welcome Back Days - UNM Departmental and Programs Day / President's Ice Cream Social
Duck Pond
Start the first day of school off right by stopping by the Duck Pond for the President Stokes' Ice Cream Social! President Stokes, and other campus administrators, will be on hand to give you your choice of vanilla, strawberry or chocolate! Popsicles will be available too! Visit the booths to get great information from campus departments, programs and colleges from 10am to 2pm. Live entertainment will take place from Noon to 1pm. The food is generously sponsored by the Office of the President.

Welcome Back Days - Safety, Health and Wellness Day
Duck Pond
Enjoy free watermelon courtesy of the UNM Children's Campus from Noon until it is gone! There will be booths from the Safety, Health, Wellness and Recreation departments on campus located at the Duck Pond. New this year: Sports Club Fair! Stop by the Duck Pond to speak with representatives of the different sports clubs at UNM. Great Live Music from Noon - 1 p.m.

Welcome Back Days - Campus Communities Day / Green Chile Stew
Duck Pond
Stop by the Duck Pond for information about all of the Cultural, Veteran, LGBTQ and Women's programs and departments at UNM. UNM's favorite free food tradition of Green Chile Stew will continue from Noon until it is gone. UNM's food service provider, UNM Food, Chartwells and Nusenda, are the sponsors and provider of the free food today. Cultural entertainment will run from Noon - 1:00 pm by the Duck Pond. Look for UNM museums, student art displays and performing arts information as well.

Welcome Back Days - North Campus Day
North Campus
HSC Courtyard between Fitz Hall and Nursing & Pharmacy Building
North campus will celebrate its Welcome Back Day in the Basic Medical Sciences Building plaza area in the Health Sciences Complex from 11:30 - 1:00 with great information booths! Free Watermelon will be served from 11:30 until it is gone courtesy of the UNM Children's Campus.

Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. Noah Has years of experience performing and showcasing his unique perspective and high energy style on stages all across America. In this show Students will experience a blend of Magic, Mind reading, and Hypnosis that will weave them through moments of Laughter, awe, and pure confusion. All wrapped up with a stylistic, modern, fast paced show.

Welcome Back Days - Campus Employment and Community Service / Snacks
Ortega Hall
Looking for a campus student job? Interested in helping out in the community? Stop by! University departments looking to hire students will be set up at an On-Campus Jobs Fair north of Ortega hall from 10 am - 2 pm. They will have information about their workstudy and student employment positions. Community organizations will be recruiting volunteers for their worth while events and causes. The Alumni Association will be serving free snacks from 9:00 am until they are gone in the Welcome Back Days food tent. Enjoy more live music from Noon - 1 pm.

Nerdology: Pop Culture Trivia

Do you love Harry Potter, Pop Music, and Marvel Movies? Are you a pop-culture expert? PROVE IT! Come out for the hilarious and exciting Nerdology Trivia Game Show. Red Rally Bonfire and Pep Rally

Red Rally was rated #55 in Sports Illustrated's "102 Things You Have To Do Before You Graduate" article. Join over 3,000 students burning a 25' tall Aggie at the stake to get pumped up for the game vs NMSU! The football team, spirit squads and Spirit Marching Band will be on hand for the pep rally! Help ASUNM Lobo Spirit build the Aggie by calling 277-0372.

Silent Lights: 3 DJs | 1 Silent Disco | Immersive Light Experience

Get ready for a one-of-a-kind outdoor Silent Disco here, on campus. 3 DJs and a massive light show in the newly remodeled Smith Plaza. At a silent disco or silent rave you get down, but the music won't bump through the speakers, instead it's broadcasted via radio transmitter directly through the headphones we provide. Don't miss this one of a kind experience. Free Admission. UNM Students get in with LOBO ID and can bring one guest.

Halloween Speaker: Possessions - The Study of Haunted Objects

Halloween Speakers, Greg Newkirk and Dana Matthews, paranormal professionals with two decades of experience in the investigation of the the strange and the unexplained will be talking about Possessions: The Study of Haunted Objects.
Often referred to as the real-life Mulder and Scully, Dana and Greg Newkirk are award-winning television producers and two of the world’s only professional, full-time paranormal investigators. Over the last two decades, their groundbreaking work in the fields of parapsychology, cryptozoology, and haunted artifacts have seen the duo make numerous appearances on hit television series such as Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot and Travel Channel’s Kindred Spirits, as well as in leading news outlets like The Independent, VICE, The Washington Post, and even Seventeen Magazine.
When they’re not busy tracking down a lead on the latest mystery, Dana and Greg can be found giving fascinating lectures to sold-out rooms across the country. Using personal footage, private case files, and a knack for captivating audiences, the Newkirks present actual evidence of the unexplained through chilling multimedia presentations on the reality of professional paranormal research.
Whether they’re collecting cursed idols hidden under haunted houses or trekking through the snowy mountains in search of Sasquatch, their long and varied career has earned the Newkirks a reputation as two of the most knowledgeable names in the study of the unexplained, a designation reflected by their carefully-curated museum collection.

Lobo's Got Talent Show!

The 16th Annual Lobo's Got Talent Show showcases the best UNM has to offer from our talented students!
All types of student talent is displayed: Singing, Dancing, Spoken Word, Comedy, Bands, and more! For more information, contact the Student Activities Center. Applications and rules for currently enrolled UNM students will be available at sac.unm.edu in late September / early October.
